Change

I use to be so resistant to change and to the shifting waves of change around me.

Largely, because growing up change wasn’t always connected to something good, and because I felt like too much changed too often, so I spent most of my adult life trying to find and create stability.

To be in stable environments, to have stable friendships and relationships, but…

Our life and relationships are a reflection of our inner world.

So I got curious.

I began to examine and consider how my internal climate and dialogue were affecting the dynamics and the environment around me.

And I did that by asking myself these questions:

  • Am I being vulnerable?

  • Am I being myself?

  • Do I trust myself?

  • Do I trust them?

  • Am I being open?

  • Am I being compassionate?

  • Am I advocating for myself?

And in sitting with both the questions and the answers everything changed.

l began to accept and value myself exactly as I am.

I began to acknowledge and honor my own thoughts, feelings, emotions, values, and needs.

I embodied and embraced change.

And in doing so I learned to ride the wave. To be in flow.

I’ve learned that it’s okay for things to change and to be changing.

Because just like turning over the soil is good to fight against weeds and intrusion into your garden.

Change is good.

So…

“Don't just learn, experience.

Don't just read, absorb.

Don't just change, transform.

Don't just relate, advocate.

Don't just promise, prove.

Don't just criticize, encourage.

Don't just think, ponder.

Don't just take, give.

Don't just see, feel.

Don’t just dream, do.

Don't just hear, listen.

Don't just talk, act.

Don't just tell, show.

Don't just exist, live.

~ Roy T. Bennett

LIVE and embrace change because I’ve learned that we must be willing to let go of all that we planned and knew to have the life that we truly desire.

So…

Be transformed, and arrive at your destination brand new.
