Shedding

So many people know a version of you that no longer exists.

The hardest part of growing and shedding old versions of yourself is the reintroductions.

Introducing yourself to people that "know" you.

Offering and presenting a version of you that differs from the version they've come to know. That they accept. The version you know of yourself.

It's really hard because you can get caught in the trap of someone else's expectation of who you should be, and you begin to feel the need to perform or show up for them, but…

Don’t compromise yourself to make others comfortable.

Show up for yourself.

Be true to yourself.

Honor your path and position.

Honor yourself.

Honor your journey.

“You are learning what is you and what is not you, what is simply a habit, condition, or thing you picked up along the way and forgot to put down. You’ve worn some things so long that you think it’s really your skin. You are learning what is yours and what is not yours. You are shedding.” ~ Octavia F. Raheem
